Three out of four asylum seekers lack ID papers

Three out of four peoe who seek asylum in Denmark arrive without any form of identity papers, and therefore the authorities cannot determine with certainty who they are.
In Denmark, an asylum seeker must first report to the police, who register the asylum seeker and take photos and fingerprints, whi are sent to the common European fingerprint register to eck whether the person has previously been to another EU country. The NUC does not keep statistics on how many of the new arrivals have documentation of their identity and nationality, but deputy police inspector Claus Birkelyng, NUC, estimates that it is an estimated 25 per cent who can present a document in the form of a passport, driver's license, birth certificate or similar. The rest have nothing to do with it.
"It is my assessment that the missing documents may be due to several factors. Some asylum seekers come from countries where, per automatics are equipped with identity papers, some have lost them along the way, while others try to obscure their identity or nationality and have therefore hidden them out of the way,' says Claus Birkelyng.
By comparison, in Norway it is 94.1 per cent who do not have the papers in order.

On Monday, a verdict is expected in a human trafficking case at the Court in Aarhus, where it has emerged that the asylum seekers bought false asylum declarations and at the same time were instructed to appear at the authorities without passports and travel documents.
"Of course, peoe have come up with false asylum stories before, but we have not previously seen cases where a business has been made out of it," says prosecutor Peter Koukoumis.
The Danish Immigration Service, whi is responsible for the asylum processing itself, confirms that many arrive without papers, but unlike in Norway, no statistics are kept in this area at home.
Asking about the color of the buses
